Many of the OIR members go on holiday to Spain or the Spanish islands and feel they get a lot more enjoyment from their holiday if they are able to speak some of the language. Some do the classes just to keep their minds that little bit sharper. They are 'fun' classes with no exams or tests. Members go at their own pace and put as much, or little, into it as they wish. Tapes and videos are used, and dictionaries and simple textbooks are required.

The classes for 2008-09 (Oct - March) are as follows:-

Beginners Spanish…This is for absolute beginners where members are taught the basic rules of pronunciation and grammar, and by the end of the session should be able to carry on  simple conversations in Spanish.

Please contact Nan Lees at 673099

Intermediate Spanish
…This is a continuation of the Basic course and is designed for members who have done the Basic course or who have already done some Spanish either in school or elsewhere and maybe feel a bit 'rusty' or not quite confident enough to join the Conversational Spanish class.

Please contact Bobby Lees at 673099

Conversational Spanish
…In this class we aim to carry out everyday (not too advanced) conversation in Spanish. Members are encouraged to prepare pieces of dialogue for presentation to the class and emphasis is placed on listening and speaking. Some members from this group have gone on to more advanced study at the local college in Greenock.
